West Columbia, SC — March 12, 2026 — Columbia residents interested in learning how to become homeowners are invited to attend a free Homebuyer Readiness Event on Saturday, March 28, at the Brookland Banquet & Conference Center, hosted in partnership with Brookland Baptist Church Community Resource Center, Guild Mortgage, and the Chenoa Fund.
The event will take place from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and is designed to help individuals and families better understand the path to homeownership through financial education, lending insights, and access to down payment assistance resources.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak directly with mortgage professionals and receive guidance on their personal homebuying readiness, with the option to begin the pre-approval process on site for those who bring the necessary documentation.
In addition, attendees will hear from industry professionals who will walk participants through the key steps involved in preparing for and purchasing a home, including:
- Understanding credit and financial readiness
- Exploring down payment assistance options
- Learning how mortgage approvals work
- Preparing for the homebuying journey
- Connecting with trusted local housing resources
This educational event aims to provide attendees with practical tools and information to help them make confident decisions about purchasing a home.
