Guild Giving Foundation to Host Inaugural Charity Golf and Social in Support of Underprivileged Youth, Homeless

Golf tournament, silent auction and dinner will benefit three local charities SAN DIEGO – The Guild Giving Foundation, a non-profit created by Guild Mortgage to expand its community relations efforts nationally, will host its inaugural Charity Golf and Dinner Social on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. The fundraiser will include a golf tournament, auction and dinner social, with proceeds from the event benefitting three local charities: Monarch SchoolUrban Corps of San Diego County and the San Diego Rescue Mission. The Monarch School has served San Diego for nearly three decades, evolving from a one-room education center to a comprehensive K-12 school dedicated to educating homeless youth. Urban Corps of San Diego County has established a unique work-learning program that allows youth to finish high school while earning a paycheck, learning real-world job skills and giving back to the community. The San Diego Rescue Mission has provided housing, meals, mental health counseling and educational programs to aid in the fight against homelessness for more than 50 years. Mary Ann McGarry, president and CEO of Guild, one of the largest independent mortgage lenders in the U.S., said the foundation and its programs build on a history of company employees dedicating themselves to improving their communities through charitable efforts, fundraising events and volunteer work. “We are encouraging more employee participation and volunteerism with local charities and organizations that are involved in issues such as youth development, economic revitalization, hunger, homelessness, veteran services and domestic violence,” she said. “These three organizations are driving positive changes that we feel very strongly about. We are pleased to sponsor this inaugural golf event to support the great work they are doing in our community every day.” Guild Mortgage, which has more than 250 offices in 25 states, launched the Guild Giving Foundation to encourage volunteerism among its more than 4,000 employees and deliver on its mission to inspire positive change in every community it serves.
