David Battany is executive vice president of capital markets for Guild Mortgage. He oversees the firm’s capital market activities, including pricing, hedging and secondary market execution. He is also responsible for Guild’s credit policy, shipping and product development functions, and manages investor relationships with GSEs, government agencies and private investors.
Mr. Battany has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the mortgage industry. He joined Guild in 2015 after serving as chief product strategist for Penny Mac for three years. He was responsible for managing Penny Mac’s product development group and its relationships with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, Ginnie Mae and mortgage insurance companies.
Prior to Penny Mac, Mr. Battany was with Fannie Mae for 22 years, where he served as director of Single-Family Business and managed the firm’s relationships with west coast-based lenders. He began his career in 1986 with First Interstate Bank of California, where he traded and hedged the bank’s mortgage production portfolio.
Mr. Battany is chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association Residential Loan Production Committee. He has served as chair of the MBA Secondary and Capital Markets Committee, was a member of the MBA Residential Board of Governors and is a past board member of the California MBA. He is a board member of Habitat for Humanity and has served on the board of Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit focused on safe and healthy housing. Mr. Battany graduated from the University of Colorado’s School of Business Administration with a degree in finance in 1985.
