Kat Foster, Senior Vice President, Director of Credit Risk
Kat Foster is senior vice president and director of credit risk at Guild Mortgage. She oversees the company’s credit approval, credit policy and risk management sectors, and contributes to its continued growth and risk strategies as part of the senior management team.
Kat has more than 30 years of experience in structuring loans, delivering them to the secondary market, and assessing risk and developing protocol. She played an essential role in developing Guild’s proprietary loan origination and underwriting systems.
After joining Guild in 1986 as an underwriting assistant, Kat became an underwriter, obtaining her FHA and VA credentials in the early 1990s. She advanced to corporate underwriting manager in 2010 and vice president of underwriting in 2013, before being promoted to her current position in 2014.
Kat graduated with a degree in business from Hawaii’s Cannon Business School in 1982. She completed the California Mortgage Bankers Association leadership program. She supports Save the Children and regularly participates in charity runs for important causes like healthy hearts, cancer research, and veterans support services.
